High Heat Casters

High Heat Casters: Special considerations

Caster Concepts’ product offerings of high-heat casters is specially engineered and manufactured to withstand the unique requirements of high-temperature applications where the caster is routinely exposed to temperatures up to 350° F.

Not only can Caster Concepts’ casters take the heat, but they also ensure a higher ROI. Our casters are designed to be safer, last longer, and move materials more easily, resulting in better performance and higher productivity.

High-heat casters have the following special features:

  • High-temperature grease that maintains its viscosity and lubrication properties.
  • Additional bearing clearance to accommodate expansion.
  • Hardened wheels for hotter application temperatures.
  • For applications above 300°F the best choice is typically steel or other metal wheels.

Product Range Notes:

High-Temperature casters can be ordered by adding HT for 250° F (121.1° C) rating or HT3 for 350° F (176.66° C) rating to the end of part numbers.

250° F Caster will be designated with the HT suffix: 80-08409-2-1-HT.

350° F Caster will be designated with the HT3 suffix: 80-08409-2-1-HT3.

For applications above 350°F, contact our material handling specialists to discuss your specific application. We are experts in designing solutions for extreme environments up to 1500°F.

Overview

Using casters and wheels in environments marked by elevated temperatures can pose significant challenges. For example, extreme heat can induce warpage and deformation, potentially leading to early failure. While a majority of casters are optimized to perform under 150°F, applications demanding exposure to severe temperatures necessitate using robust, high-heat casters.

Lead Times

Caster Concepts prides itself on being a make-to-order company with short lead times on our standard casters and custom casters built to your specifications.

  • For standard products, lead times are five days or less.
  • Lead times are ten days or less for make-to-order casters designed and developed from the ground up.

In addition, special casters are engineered with our standard product line in mind. This means Caster Concepts can make minor changes to the standard product line so that a make-to-order caster or wheel follows the same timeline as a standard caster.

Taking the necessary precautions to ensure your equipment can handle the heat is crucial, as elevated temperatures can significantly impact the performance and longevity of your casters. If you have any questions about high-heat applications, call the caster professionals at 888.764.1698.

Application

These high-temperature casters and wheels are ideally suited for a wide variety of industrial applications, like curing ovens, thermo-set applications, auto-clave applications, heat treating, research laboratories, clean rooms, coating and finishing, processing, and pharmaceuticals where heat exposure is required.

Options

Caster Concepts has a wide variety of caster options. Many of these not only improve function – but also provide safety and add longevity to the product. When considering safety options, the most common consideration would be caster locks, caster brakes, toe guards, and reinforced legs. Options that extend the life of a caster are primarily options that seal the bearing of the caster to prevent contamination of the precision parts.

Other options include threaded zerks for when an application is difficult and high level of maintenance is required and track brush wipers that keep debris from stopping movement or damaging a wheel. These options can be added at the time of manufacturing or after the caster is fully assembled.
